Summary

Tesla's Cybertruck has had a rocky debut, and the latest incident adds another concern for owners.

Since its release in November, the Cybertruck has faced several recalls and become a target for internet mockery due to its underwhelming performance in routine tasks. However, one area where the Cybertruck seems to stand out is in its ability to cause finger injuries, a result of some questionable design choices.

New Hazard Uncovered by Cybertruck Owner Finger injuries involving the Cybertruck are not new. Owners have shared videos highlighting issues with the truck's detection system, designed to prevent such incidents. However, it sometimes fails, leading to fingers being caught and injured by the closing hatch.

Previously, the trunk was identified as a risk area, but now there's another concern. According to a report from The Drive, a Cybertruck owner shared on the Cybertruck Owner's Club website about an incident where his father-in-law ended up in the emergency room. He needed seven stitches and a splint after his finger got caught between the front and rear doors.

Incident Details The incident occurred when the owner’s father-in-law attempted to open the vehicle's doors using a door release button located on the pillar. Simultaneously, the owner's son closed the rear door, trapping the father-in-law's finger. The close proximity of the button to the door gap creates a risk of fingers being caught if the rear door is closed at the wrong moment.

Safety Precautions and Design Improvements The Cybertruck owner emphasized the need for increased awareness among users, especially when multiple passengers are entering or exiting the vehicle on the same side. While Tesla does include warnings in the manual about keeping hands clear of the doors, the owner suggested that the design could be improved. He recommended relocating the pillar button to a safer distance from the door gap.

This incident highlights ongoing safety issues with the Cybertruck, from the problematic acceleration pedal to the dangerous door release button design. As Tesla addresses these flaws, Cybertruck owners are advised to remain vigilant and cautious.
