Summary

On Monday, the European Union regulators charged Apple with violating the new digital competition regulations by restricting software developers from directing users to alternative platforms from its App Store.

The European Commission, which is the executive arm of the EU, stated that its preliminary investigation found Apple in breach of the Digital Markets Act (DMA), a comprehensive set of rules designed to prevent major tech companies from monopolizing digital markets.

According to the Commission, Apple's App Store policies hinder developers from guiding consumers to other channels for their offers and content.

In response, Apple Inc. mentioned that it has implemented several changes to align with the DMA, considering the feedback from developers and the Commission. "We believe our plan is in compliance with the law," Apple asserted.
