5G technology is not just an upgrade; it’s a revolutionary leap with the potential to transform every sector, from creating smarter cities and enhancing healthcare to redefining entertainment, stated State Minister for Information Technology, Kanaka Herath, at Sri Lanka’s 5G Summit.

“5G capabilities will significantly bolster our AI strategy, especially with the upcoming launch of our national AI center. Our ‘Online and Digital First’ policy forms the foundation of the Digital Economy Strategy 2030,” Herath remarked.

“This strategy is a comprehensive plan to improve connectivity, infrastructure, and digital literacy nationwide, with 5G technology at its core,” he added.

Sri Lanka’s inaugural 5G Summit, held at the ITC Grand Ratnadipa in Colombo, marked a significant milestone in the country’s digital transformation journey. The event gathered industry leaders, policymakers, and experts to discuss the strategic development and implementation of 5G technology.
