Google has been busy with consumer hardware this August. Last week, the company introduced the much-anticipated new Nest Thermostat and the Google TV Streamer, which replaces the 11-year-old Chromecast line. Today, at the Made by Google 2024 event, the tech giant unveiled a refreshed Pixel lineup, including new smartphones and numerous Gemini AI announcements.
Unlike previous years, which saw the event held on the East Coast in October, this year’s event is taking place at Google’s Mountain View headquarters. The event kicked off today, August 13, at 10 a.m. PT/1 p.m. ET.
You can watch the event live through Google’s own livestream, embedded below, with a full archive available after the broadcast. TechCrunch will also be providing live updates as the news breaks.
Alongside new home devices and an upgraded Google Assistant, which will continue to be available on Home and Nest devices amid the rise of Gemini, Google has teased two new mobile devices: the Pixel 9 Pro and the Pixel 9 Fold. The company has emphasized its generative AI platform with the tagline, “A (foldable) phone built for the Gemini era.”
Expect to see more of Android 15 at the event, which will debut on the Pixel 9 line along with an upgraded in-house processor. Rumors also suggest the release of the latest versions of the Pixel Watch and Pixel Buds Pro.
