OpenAI has entered a strategic partnership with Condé Nast, the renowned publisher behind influential titles like The New Yorker, Vogue, Vanity Fair, Bon Appétit, and Wired. This collaboration will bring stories from Condé Nast's diverse portfolio to OpenAI's AI-powered platforms, including the chatbot ChatGPT and the experimental SearchGPT.
While the full details of the agreement remain under wraps, Condé Nast CEO Roger Lynch hinted in an internal memo that the multi-year deal includes compensation from OpenAI. Additionally, a Condé Nast spokesperson confirmed that OpenAI will be granted access to use Condé Nast content for training its AI models.
OpenAI has yet to provide any official comment on the partnership.
This move aligns with OpenAI’s broader strategy of collaborating with prominent media organizations to enhance the content available through its AI products. Other notable media partners include the Associated Press, Axel Springer, The Atlantic, Financial Times, News Corp, and Time.
However, this trend has sparked some controversy, as several of these agreements were reportedly made without direct involvement from the journalists and editors responsible for creating the content, raising concerns among media professionals.
