Optus has introduced a new Managed Threat Monitoring Service for enterprise and mid-market clients, in collaboration with Devo Technology. This service is designed to bolster organizational security using real-time analytics, artificial intelligence (AI), and intelligent automation from Devo's Security Data Platform.
The platform provides real-time visibility into potential and emerging network threats, utilizing advanced technology to identify and detect these threats. It operates continuously, supported by the Optus Network Operation Centre and Security Operation Centre, delivering expert-managed services and insights around the clock.
Optus launched this service in response to the rising number of cyberattacks. Data from the Australian Cyber Security Centre indicated a 23% increase in cybercrime reports during the 2022-2023 financial year compared to the previous year. As threats grow, Optus aims to offer robust solutions to protect Australian businesses.
Danny Price, Vice President of Delivery for Enterprise and Business at Optus, said, "Optus is proud to serve many of Australia's largest organizations and government agencies. We understand the critical importance of cybersecurity and the need to invest in new technology as the threat landscape evolves. Optus collaborates with top security vendors globally to ensure our enterprise customers have the support they need to act quickly and identify threats."
The new service integrates several advanced security technologies, including Security Information and Event Management (SIEM), Security Orchestration, Automation and Response (SOAR), and User and Entity Behaviour Analytics (UEBA). These technologies work together through AI and machine learning (ML) to correlate and analyze logs from network-connected devices and global threat intelligence.
When the platform detects potential threats, it generates security alert tickets in Optus' AI-enabled IT Service Management (ITSM) Nucleus platform. These tickets are prioritized and triaged by Optus' Security Operation Centre, which operates 24/7. The centre then uses automation to deploy specific countermeasures swiftly.
Discussing the new service's capabilities, Price added, "We are excited to partner with Devo and their innovative technology to provide our enterprise customers with Optus' Managed Threat Monitoring Service. This platform enhances our already strong security portfolio and supports our team of experts, who work around the clock in Australia to provide the best care to Australian businesses."
Nicky Choo, Vice President for APAC at Devo, emphasized the importance of such partnerships in combating cyber threats. "As the global threat landscape continues to expand rapidly, it's crucial that organizations have the right technology, people, and processes to combat cybercrime and keep their businesses safe. By partnering with Optus, our shared customers can maximize the benefits of the Devo Security Data Platform and rest assured that a team of experts is helping them achieve their security goals."
