YouTube is experimenting with a new feature that integrates Google Gemini to assist creators in brainstorming video ideas, titles, and thumbnails. This new tool, called Brainstorm with Gemini, was announced in a video on YouTube's Creator Insider channel.

According to a YouTube spokesperson, the feature is currently available to a select group of creators as part of a limited trial. YouTube will gather feedback from these creators before deciding on a broader rollout.

This innovative tool could give YouTube a competitive edge over other social media video platforms by offering a unique feature not available elsewhere. It also aligns with Google's strategy to integrate its AI capabilities into its video platform, encouraging creators to use its AI tools over alternatives like OpenAI’s ChatGPT.

Brainstorm with Gemini is similar to an AI-powered content inspiration tool YouTube began testing in May. This tool suggests video topics based on audience interests and generates an outline of talking points to help creators get started.

The spokesperson mentioned that creators now have the option to use Gemini, which is the brand name for Google's family of AI large language models. YouTube aims to determine whether creators prefer the inspiration tool, the Gemini integration, or both for content idea generation.

Creators participating in the experiment can access YouTube Studio, type a video idea into the search bar, and choose between the inspiration tool and the Brainstorm with Gemini feature. While the inspiration tool already aids in generating video ideas, YouTube wants to see if creators also find value in brainstorming with Gemini.

As platforms like TikTok and Instagram focus on using generative AI to create digital avatars, YouTube is leveraging the technology to help creators develop their content.
