Summary

Audi has expanded its electric vehicle lineup with the introduction of electric versions of its renowned A6 midsized sedan and the high-performance S6 variant. These new E-tron models include both Sportback and Avant station wagon styles, providing a blend of luxury, performance, and sustainability.

Initially presented as a concept at Auto Shanghai in 2021, the A6 E-tron’s production model remains true to its original design. The vehicle features sleek headlights with adaptive matrix LEDs (available outside the US) and a distinctive front grille with a fish scale-like texture. The rear sports digital OLED panels that serve as safety communication displays.

In the US, Audi will offer three versions: the A6 RWD Sportback, A6 AWD (quattro) Sportback, and the S6 Sportback. Due to US regulations, these models will not include the slim virtual side mirrors that help achieve a low drag coefficient of 0.21. Audi estimates a range of over 700 kilometers (435 miles) per charge, though US EPA ratings may differ.

The performance-oriented S6 E-tron accelerates from 0-60 mph in just 3.7 seconds with launch control, close to the Tesla Model 3 Performance's 2.9 seconds. It boasts 543 horsepower and a top speed of 149 mph.

Inside, the A6 E-tron mirrors the new Q6 E-tron’s “digital stage,” featuring three displays, including a 10.9-inch front passenger screen with a privacy feature. Audi also offers a heads-up display for the driver.

Built on Volkswagen’s advanced 800-volt Premium Platform Electric (PPE) platform, shared with the Audi Q6 E-tron and Porsche Macan EV, all A6 E-tron models come with 100kWh battery packs (94.4kWh usable) and support DC fast charging at 270kW, allowing a 10-80 percent charge in just 21 minutes.

The A6 E-Tron will debut in Europe this September, with US availability to be announced later.
