Elon Musk has initiated another lawsuit against OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, alleging that he was manipulated into co-founding OpenAI.
Court documents released on Monday reveal the latest twist in the ongoing conflict between these prominent AI leaders.
Musk's lawsuit claims that OpenAI "flipped the narrative and proceeded to cash in" as the company capitalized on advancements in generative AI.
This legal action follows Musk's previous lawsuit against OpenAI in June, which accused the company of abandoning its mission to develop AI for the benefit of humanity.
The tension between Musk and OpenAI intensified after Musk criticized OpenAI's partnership with Apple, threatening to ban Apple devices from his companies.
Strained Relations Between Microsoft and OpenAI
Musk's latest lawsuit also implicates Microsoft, alleging that he was "courted and deceived" by Altman and OpenAI president Greg Brockman, who initially presented the firm as a nonprofit. Musk claims he was "betrayed" when the company shifted to a profit-driven model.
Microsoft, a strategic partner of OpenAI with an estimated $13 billion investment, is now reportedly competing with OpenAI in the AI and search markets.
The lawsuit seeks to invalidate Microsoft's license to use OpenAI's models, highlighting the broader disconnect and high stakes between these tech giants.
The outcome of this lawsuit remains uncertain, but it is unlikely to be the final chapter in the ongoing dispute between Musk and the company he helped establish.
