With the recent release of the Google TV Streamer, you can now purchase the new Voice Remote and a high-speed HDMI cable directly from the Google Store, alongside other retailers like Amazon.
The "Google TV Streamer Voice Remote" is priced at $19.99, similar to the previous "Voice Remote for Chromecast with Google TV." Currently, it’s only available in the Porcelain color option, with the Hazel version expected to be available soon. Customers can sign up to receive notifications for its release.
This updated remote features a slightly taller design and replaces the Google Assistant button with a Home button directly beneath the D-pad. While the Back button remains unchanged, the new Assistant/Mic button has a raised marker for easy identification. Below it, there’s a new Mute shortcut. The volume controls have moved to the front of the remote, reducing the likelihood of accidental volume adjustments.
The familiar YouTube and Netflix buttons remain, but there’s now a customizable button for the Home Panel, any app, or an input source. The remote also includes a built-in microphone between the buttons and a speaker on the back for the “Find My Remote” feature. While the texture of the remote has a subtle grain, it’s not highly noticeable, though the device still retains a slight wobble.
The remote is powered by two AAA batteries, which are included. According to the official specifications, the Google TV Streamer Voice Remote is compatible with several devices:
In addition to the remote, Google has also introduced a "Google Ultra High-Speed HDMI Cable" for $19.99. This HDMI 2.1b cable, which is not included with the Google TV Streamer, offers a slim design that helps avoid issues like tilting the base of your streaming device, which can happen with bulkier cables.
The cable comes in Snow white and is 2 meters (6.5 feet) long, providing a data transfer rate of up to 48 Gbps, ensuring smooth 4K streaming. Its appearance closely matches Google's USB-C cables, maintaining a sleek, minimalistic design.
