Summary

Businesswoman and philanthropist Laurene Powell Jobs has set a new record in San Francisco's real estate market by purchasing a historic mansion on Billionaires Row for $70 million.

The 100-year-old, 17,300-square-foot property is located in the prestigious Pacific Heights neighborhood.

Powell Jobs, the widow of Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, oversees the Emerson Collective and the Steve Jobs Archive, and she is also the owner of The Atlantic magazine. This recent acquisition marks the highest amount ever paid for a residential property in San Francisco.

As reported by The Real Deal, Powell Jobs bought the mansion at 2840 Broadway Street through a private sale. Although the $70 million price tag is impressive, it is notably less than the $100 million the previous owners had initially sought.

The former owners purchased the mansion in 2011 for $33 million. The Spanish Renaissance Revival property, hailed by Architectural Digest as "the most beautiful house in America," boasts a two-story glass-covered courtyard and four stories of glass on its north side, offering breathtaking views of the Golden Gate Bridge.

The mansion's location adds to its allure, being within walking distance of two Apple Stores. Powell Jobs may be spotted at the Apple Chestnut Street and Apple Union Square locations, possibly participating in Today at Apple sessions.
