Summary

CMF, a sub-brand of London's Nothing, has unveiled the CMF Phone 1, an Android smartphone that stands out with its modular design and starts at an attractive price of just $199.

The CMF Phone 1 is equipped with a MediaTek Dimensity 7300 chipset and features a 6.67-inch FHD, 120Hz AMOLED display. It comes with a 50MP Sony camera on the back, a secondary depth sensor for portraits, and a 16MP front-facing camera.

With a 5,000 mAh battery, the phone can last up to two days on a single charge. The base model includes 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, supporting Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, and 9-band Dual 5G. However, it lacks NFC and wireless charging and is only splash-resistant.

The phone's standout feature is its screw-based system, allowing users to interchange backplates and accessories. Different colored shells (black, orange, blue, and light green) can be swapped using a flathead screwdriver and screws, transforming the phone's appearance, including a color-matched SIM tray.

One screw point features a dial-style pop-out for mounting optional accessories like a kickstand, a MagSafe-style wallet case, and a lanyard, each costing $25. Alongside the phone, CMF has released CMF Buds Pro 2 wireless earbuds and a CMF Watch Pro 2 smartwatch.

The CMF Phone 1 is launching this week in the UK and the EU, with a US release scheduled for later in July under a "Beta Program," suggesting high demand and a potential waitlist. The device is priced at $199 in the US, £209 in the UK, and €239 in the EU.
