Today's Google Doodle offers a playful twist on one of America's favorite snacks—popcorn! As you visit Google's homepage, you'll be greeted by animated popcorn kernels darting across the screen, each vying to be the last unpopped kernel. But it’s more than just a visual treat—you can also join in on the fun by playing the interactive game.
Going live in the U.S. at noon ET, this Doodle celebrates popcorn in a way that’s sure to bring out your competitive side. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Americans consume about 14 billion quarts of popcorn each year, which averages around 43 quarts per person. In honor of this beloved snack, Google has created an engaging game where players take control of a kernel and race against time to avoid being popped.
How to Play the Popcorn Doodle Game Simply click on the Google Doodle, and the game will start. You can choose between Solo Mode, where you play as a unique kernel with special abilities, or Squad Mode, which allows you to invite friends to join in on the action. Your mission? Survive as long as possible while dodging projectiles and avoiding the buttery fate that awaits other kernels.
Use the arrow keys to move your character around and hit the spacebar to activate your kernel’s special ability. The game will be live until Thursday, September 26, at 11:59 p.m. ET, so make sure to give it a try before time runs out!
What is a Google Doodle? Google Doodles are fun, creative designs that appear on the Google homepage, celebrating significant cultural events, holidays, anniversaries, and influential people from around the world. Doodles come in many forms, ranging from static images to interactive games, and this popcorn-themed doodle is no exception.
Who Designs Google Doodles? The magic behind each Google Doodle is the work of a talented team of in-house artists, known as "Doodlers." These artists collaborate with engineers, designers, and even guest creators to craft Doodles that resonate with users globally. Google’s team constantly explores new ways to bring creativity and culture to their homepage.
